R & R

My weekend started on a wonderful note as my Mom's group met for the first time this semester. We

  • start with an icebreaker (which I usually DETEST, but she has some really fun ones),

  • enjoy a nice, casual brunch as we chat and catch up on each other's lives,

  • have a speaker (this time it was on phonemic awareness--different than phonics), and

  • sometimes do a craft. SOOO fun!

So relaxing. Our theme this year is "Precious Jewels," taken from Proverbs 31:10, to remind us that we are precious jewels! I like it!

Tomorrow morning, Ashley and I will head to San Diego to spend some "girl time" together. We will begin our weekend with a "high tea" at the CobblestonexCottagexTeaxShoppe, do some scrapbooking at the hotel, swim at their jacuzzi, attend church on Sunday morning, and finish off our weekend at Sea World (we have passes till the end of this year). At least that's what I have planned. Of course, we can change our minds at any time! If she really pushes the shopping, I'll force myself to take her to this mall close to the hotel for a couple of hours. I guess it can't be all about me, huh? (lol!)

So I'll probably post on Monday to give you a quick recap (and hopefully some pics!) For now, these are some pics from our weekend last year:

Have a wonderful weekend!

Missing You

We've been having internet problems since last Friday evening. It goes on and off sporadically. Someone should be coming today to fix it (and of course it's working perfectly right now, lol!). I don't usually blog in the middle of the day (too much house stuff to do) , but I gotta grab the internet while I can. I'm desperate! It has actually startled me to realize how connected I am to all of you--even you, Ronalyn, and I have never met you. I have so missed reading blogs, commenting on them, and posting. I have really felt disconnected to you all (yeah, I'm a "recovered hick" but I can't erase that expression from my vocabulary--however, I don't say, "y'all." I do draw the line there. Sorry if I'm offending anyone--as in my sister and brother-in-law, but I don't consider you guys hicks.) . So I hope the person who comes to repair the internet issue can perform a miracle so I don't have to miss you anymore :)

A Rare Moment Captured on Film

No, it's not a rare moment that my kids brush their teeth (well, it would be if left up to them!). I walked into the bathroom tonight to see both my kids in the bathroom brushing their teeth ... and this is the rare moment--they actually got along! I had to run and get my camera to document this rare moment of parental bliss. And now I'm sharing it with you. Now isn't your day more complete?!

Time Will Tell

It's always so "wow" to me when I'm going about my business as usual, and "out of the blue" God answers a prayer. I think He's answering my prayer. Time will tell. I've been praying for quite a while about what to do about employment. I want to find a job that I can do only during the day when the kids are at school--I still need to be available to take them to school and pick them up because sometimes my husband needs to go to work early. I have thought about various jobs (subbing, tutoring, doing something with technology 'cause I'm good with computers, finding a business I could do at home that doesn't require much training, etc.) , but child care is usually an issue and for the life of me I can't figure out what I could do from home. I'm soooo not business-oriented. It is so important to me to be there for my kids on a regular basis. I enjoy taking them to school. I enjoy being the one who gets to pick them up from school (exc...
