Break

I have decided to take a break from blogging.  I really felt called to do it last summer, but had a really difficult time posting during the school year.  I continued blogging this summer, but no one is reading my blog, so I am going to take a break and seek the Lord.  Maybe I'm not supposed to continue blogging.  I will continue to post what God puts on my heart if ... and ONLY if ... He speaks to me again and reassures me that He wants me to.  I am sad, and I may post something from time to time, but I will not be posting regularly. God bless you!

One Nation Under God

http://cdn.history.com/sites/2/2015/04/John-Birch-Society-American-Flag-hero-E.jpeg As we celebrate Independence Day, I would like to encourage you (if you aren't already) to commit to praying for a widespread Christian revival in our country (and Europe) --especially among young people.  I could be wrong, but it seems like the number of evangelical Christians drops significantly with each successive generation, and that grieves me. I have been praying off and on for a nationwide revival in our country, but have not made any effort to pray consistently.  I am truly sorry for that, because I believe that if all of the committed Christians banded together and began praying fervently for revival, God would definitely answer our prayers. Today as I was praying, I felt God gently rebuke me for that.   I desperately want to see another "Great Awakening" in our country , and I know that the King of kings and Lord of lords is absolutely ready. https://www.theflags

I decided to update my phone wallpaper, so I'm sharing it with you.

Our Destiny in Christ

Last summer, God put on my heart to write a Bible study on the book of Nehemiah.  Today, I decided to share just one day's lesson from that Bible study.  I'm still working on it, and I'm only on chapter five, but I will give you a lesson from Nehemiah chapter two. For maximum benefit, please read Nehemiah 2 BEFORE reading my post. DESTINY --that sounds like a serious, intimidating word, doesn’t it?  I don’t know about you, but my mind conjures up grand-scale adventures and awesome, larger-than-life historical figures, such as Alexander the Great, Napoleon, George Washington, Moses, etc.  However, I’m talking about “little ol’ you” and  “little ol’ me.”  Today we are going to ponder the fact that God created you with a specific destiny in mind.  Granted, most likely our destiny will not be forever immortalized in history books, but in God’s eyes our destiny is no less important than anyone else’s.  It’s true.  I hope to drive that point home to you as we continue today

What a Beautiful Name

Just a song today.  I find myself listening to it at least once per day.  So beautiful, and it keeps me focused on God and His greatness.

Seeing Beyond the Mess

I am continually fascinated at the myriad of ways that God teaches and corrects me.  This year He has given me more than the average dose of correction.  My pastor gave an excellent message that touched me and spoke to me in many ways, but there was one sentence that struck me deeply.  Part of his message focused on the Samaritan woman at the well (John 4:1-30).  My pastor said that he believed the Samaritan woman “got a bum rap.”   My mind froze at that statement.  I was shocked.  What did he mean, “bum rap?”  How did she get a bum rap?  She deserved her reputation as a promiscuous, immoral, and, shameful woman.  I determined that after church I would seek the Lord and ask Him to give me HIS perspective.   Was my pastor right or was she truly a woman of ill repute who deserved all the judgment and condemnation she has received over the millennia?  During my lunchtime, I prayed for God to reveal His perspective as I re-read the passage over again.  I was reading verses 16-18

Waiting ...

It has been about a year now since I first felt God impressing upon my heart that He is preparing me for more ministry opportunities, something deeper and more scary, opportunities to which I would have never believed He would call me.  Since then, He has confirmed this in several small, but consistent ways.  I am in a waiting period.  I don't feel upset about the wait--on the contrary, I feel satisfied to wait because I'm very scared to come out of my comfort zone.  I am focusing on soaking up as much of Him as possible during my "wilderness period"  until He opens doors for ministry (outside of what I'm already doing). Once in a while I begin to doubt, and I begin to convince myself that He never said that last summer--I am just having delusions of grandeur.  However, He has reminded me just this past couple of weeks that Moses and Joseph had to wait many years before fulfilling their calling.  If you read Exodus 2:11-12 carefully, you will see that God ga

Priceless

God hasn't really been sharing any amazing revelations with me this week, so I thought I'd share a movie and song review with you. This is a movie that I just happened upon a few months ago.  It is created by a music group called "For King and Country."  The movie is called Priceless and it gives a Christian perspective of human sex trafficking.  Definitely heavy stuff, but also inspiring. And the main song, "Priceless" (also recorded by For King and Country), is beautiful and inspiring, reminding us that we are each PRICELESS in the eyes of our Lord and Savior. Here is the Song (Lyric Video): Here is the movie trailer.  I highly recommend this movie!  EXCEPT--be aware that it is rated PG-13.

The Promises of God

I have realized lately that I have SO MANY dreams for my life--personal and spiritual (I have dreams of ministries I would like to lead or of which I would like to be a part).  God has given me several Scriptures over the past ten or twelve years that promise a brighter, more pleasant future.  Here are some of the Scriptures He gave me: God showed me that He is planning to do new, amazing things in my life--He already has, but He keeps prompting me that there are even more amazing blessings ahead. “Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. 19  Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness  And  rivers in the desert."   Isaiah 43:18-19 "What then shall we say to these things? If God  is  for us, who  can be  against us?    He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?"   Romans 8:31-3

Complete Trust ... or Else

A few weeks ago, I began to read Exodus.  From the very first verses of the first chapter, God began showing me the root of the Israelites’ problem that led to so much rebellion, and He also showed me that I struggle with the same issue they did.  He definitely conveyed to me that my fate is paralleling theirs and that if I don’t alter my perspective, I, too, will miss out on many blessings.  That was a sobering truth, and as scary and humbling as this revelation was, I decided that it was in my best interest to pursue this truth and determine what I needed to change.  I began to sit with that thought and re-read Exodus 1 to see what parts of the chapter directly related to what God was trying to show me. He showed me that the root of the Israelites’ rebellion lay in their distorted perspective of Him.  Because that generation of Israelites was raised under the extremely harsh, unrelenting, oppressive rule of an evil Pharaoh, they had a very distorted perspective of authority

"Scripture Pictures" :)

Wow!  God has been showing me SOOOO many things lately.  It's so exciting!  I'm still formulating them, so it'll be a while before I share them.  In the meantime, I will share with you a couple of my "Scripture Pictures"--that's what I'm choosing to call it when I take a picture (or create a design) and add a Scripture to it.  I hope you like them! Have a blessed day!  :)

Diamonds in the Rough

"See yourself through My eyes--you will see that you are extraordinary." Yikes!  I'm soooooooo embarrassed!  I have not found a way to set aside regular time to blog during the school year.  I'm certain that no one looks at my blog, but I have decided that instead of creating new blog posts during the school year, I will copy and share the devotionals that God gives me to share with the teachers I work with.  About once per month, my turn for devotional comes up.  God always gives me a message to share with the teachers (we meet in the morning before work).  I have typewritten the last two, so I will copy and paste them here. Today I will paste the one I am giving tomorrow, and next week I will post the one I gave last time. Also, I am SOOOOO excited!  I have Photoshop for the first time in several years, so I have created some inspirational Scripture/quotes for you.  I will also share them intermittently throughout the school year. Here is tomorrow's devo
