A "God Breeze"

I'm so excited! I read Donna's blog and got some serious inspiration today. God's timing is so perfect. In our family devotions this week, we've been focusing on 1 Corinthians 13--specifically "love is long suffering and kind." Something we are working on around here. So perplexing to me how I can be so polite and pleasant to virtual strangers and friends, but it's so much harder with those I live with. And Donna gave an amazing example of kindness on her blog today, so I'm going to read her post for the kids tomorrow during our devotional time. Talk about a random act of kindness. Then I want to make a tally chart (for kindness and patience) and the kids and I--I know, hard to believe that I need to work on those areas--not! ;) We'll get to put a tally mark on it when we are patient and/0r kind to someone. It will be on the honor system. It's just a way to help us to remember during the day to work at it so that at some point it will become more of a habit. Soooo, thank you, Donna! God used you today!

Thanks for the shout out. But I must admit that I can not recall not even one blog where I would have inspired kindness. But I am glad you got something from it! :)

That is awesome!!! At our church, we encourage the children to go above and beyond.. even if it means picking up trash in the neighborhood park.. or helping mom with groceries.. For doing this (they document them in their folder signed by parent) they receive "church money" which is good for the store.. with such neat toys.. they are sure to love!!! Its an incentive to do the right thing and get rewarded for it!! They also receive awards! But what a great thing to teach children!!! Our time is of value especially when we help those in need.

Wow! I am so bugged that I never post anymore. Facebook is just so much easier. I'll just keep it simple-- random data: today I had Pho (Vietnamese soup) for the first time and LOVED it!! Seriously, you haven't lived till you've tried it :) I created two and a half sketches of future layouts, and halfway finished two more layouts. really on a paper-scrapping frenzy! This is one sketch: I joined the Facebook group "I grew up in Fairfield, IL, and thought I would die of boredom (but I didn't)" :D ... you have to have grown up in a dinky town to "get it" had a "day off from life" hanging out at my in-laws house all day ... ahhh! gotta love days like that I can't believe it's almost June already

Feb Year In Review Layouts

Just a quick post tonight. It dawned on me a few days ago that I'm already behind in my "Year . In . Review" layouts, so I put February's together. Believe it or not, for such a simple concept, these layouts took about three hours combined. I couldn't believe it! Anyway, these photos depict the highlights of February. Maybe tomorrow I'll do March :) (I wonder how many hours that will take?!) Just in case you're wondering, Carlos is still sick--no fever, just a sore throat now. Hopefully he'll go back to school on Tuesday ('cause I need some "me" time before I turn into a monster, lol!). 'Cause as you all know, life is all about me, right ;) Happy Monday, y'all!

A Pleasant Surprise

So, I was just going about my business today--you know, life as usual, chores, kids, homework, dinner, etc., and I get a call from my husband around 8:00 p.m. that he's bringing a friend over to the house for dinner. I have met this friend a few times (Hi, Bobby!!), but we haven't seen each other for years (they live in San Francisco). After the initial excitement wore off (about three seconds later), I realized there's NO RICE in the house. That's a huge problem, considering he's Filipino and eats rice every day. So I made a quick Yoshinoya run, and pulled up in the driveway just before them. We had a great visit. The time just flew. We had a lot to catch up on. He is one of several high school and college friends that my husband still keeps in touch with. It is always mind-boggling to me that they all grew up together in the Philippines, yet several of them have made their way to California. Pretty cool, huh? This is the friend who graced us with his pre...
