"Camp GonnaWannaFly"

Hmmm ... how do I explain "Camp GonnaWannaFly?" I'll give you the short version. I have had clutter issues my whole life, and I have really struggled to get a handle on the clutter and disorganization. A year and a half ago, a "mentor mom" at my mom's group just happened to mention in passing about a website that helps ... flylady. I looked at the website, joined, and have had good seasons and not-so-good seasons (but that's better than before where there were no good seasons!). Since the end of April however, something clicked and I've really gotten serious about following the program.
One of the things they suggest is having a week-long "camp" with your kids during the summer. During the camp you have fun activities interspersed with chores that need to be done around the house. You can make it as elaborate or simple as you want. And you make the chores as fun as possible. For example, we "decluttered" the backyard by doing a scavenger hunt (find five pieces of trash and throw them away, etc.). We cleaned the back patio by having a water fight with the hose--SO fun, let me tell you!. We also have card games, other activities, fun meals and snacks, and crafts all interspersed between the chores (Don't even ask how many hours I spent planning our week, LOL!) Now you should have a general idea. We're going to continue like this until Friday. Every day the kids get one fun outing. Today was swimming with their cousins (in their little pool, but I fit, too!). This was our first day, and the kids had a lot of fun. Our craft was painting plain, white T-shirts--no, I had no clue what I was doing, but it worked out okay :) ! We'll finish them during craft time on Friday. Maybe I'll post some pics. Ashley had serious misgivings about this "camp" (she "detests"--I mean that in a teenager way--Flylady or anything associated with her), but by about 10:00 this morning, she was like, "Can we do this next week, too?" SCORE! I'm so glad they're enjoying it, too! And it feels good to get so much accomplished.

Here are two of my favorite layouts. I did them a few months ago. Hope you enjoy! Credits here and here.

Great Idea Carmela. I did flylady for a while but then after a few months, I got overwhelmed with all of the emails I got from her.

The camp is a super thing. I am gonna figure something out like that. I will let you know what I come up with.

Missing You

We've been having internet problems since last Friday evening. It goes on and off sporadically. Someone should be coming today to fix it (and of course it's working perfectly right now, lol!). I don't usually blog in the middle of the day (too much house stuff to do) , but I gotta grab the internet while I can. I'm desperate! It has actually startled me to realize how connected I am to all of you--even you, Ronalyn, and I have never met you. I have so missed reading blogs, commenting on them, and posting. I have really felt disconnected to you all (yeah, I'm a "recovered hick" but I can't erase that expression from my vocabulary--however, I don't say, "y'all." I do draw the line there. Sorry if I'm offending anyone--as in my sister and brother-in-law, but I don't consider you guys hicks.) . So I hope the person who comes to repair the internet issue can perform a miracle so I don't have to miss you anymore :)

Feb Year In Review Layouts

Just a quick post tonight. It dawned on me a few days ago that I'm already behind in my "Year . In . Review" layouts, so I put February's together. Believe it or not, for such a simple concept, these layouts took about three hours combined. I couldn't believe it! Anyway, these photos depict the highlights of February. Maybe tomorrow I'll do March :) (I wonder how many hours that will take?!) Just in case you're wondering, Carlos is still sick--no fever, just a sore throat now. Hopefully he'll go back to school on Tuesday ('cause I need some "me" time before I turn into a monster, lol!). 'Cause as you all know, life is all about me, right ;) Happy Monday, y'all!

Nehemiah: Sheep Gate (Symbolism)

hubpages.com http://www.prayfordetroit.com/ As I mentioned in my Nehemiah  post, God has nudged me this summer to study Nehemiah in depth because He has some things He wants to show me.  I am just starting Chapter 5, and I must say it is so exciting and interesting. I have to admit, though, that when I got to Chapter 3, it just looked like one of those boring chapters: it gave all the boring details about each section of the wall of Jerusalem that was being rebuilt, and gave countless names of the people who rebuilt each section.  I was going to skip it and move on to Chapter 4 when I felt the Lord nudge me to look deeper--that there was something here that He wanted to show me.   So I dutifully sought the Lord (and a research book, and the internet!) , and was ASTOUNDED at the incredible layers of symbolism in the names of the gates!  It has turned out to be my favorite chapter so far.  :)  God is incredibly amazing, huh?   The big pi...
