Camp GonnaWannaFly--Day 2

For those of you who are wondering, we got a little off track today (had to spend an hour or so running an impromptu errand that I couldn't delay any longer--darn!), so we only did about 45 minutes of "fun" cleaning. We played the flylady version of "Freeze Dance." You put music on, and one person sweeps while the other person dusts, and when the person in charge of music pushes pause, the people doing the chore have to freeze. It was SO funny playing with Carlos. He took it very seriously. When he stopped the music, even though he could see that Ashley and I were frozen, he would come right up to our faces and take a very close look. The first time he did it, he peered intently at my face, and after a few moments, pointed his finger at me and said, "Oooh, you're breathing!" I totally lost it and just started cracking up. He took it seriously every time it was his turn. Then, just to mock him (I know, not a nice mommy), Ashley and I would do the same when it was our turn. But he had no clue that we were mocking him, so that makes it okay, right???? (someone say yes!)

Tomorrow Ashley is off to the beach with the Youth Group for the day. I can't understand why she would prefer to spend the day with her peers at the beach rather than having a blast with Carlos and me here at home, but it seems she has made her choice (SO kidding, lol!). So Carlos and I will have Camp by ourselves. It will be a quiet day ... until 4:30 when we pick her up!

YES. you said to say yes. It is ok to poke fun at your kids. I told Christy (christineplatt.typepad.com) that it is a mother's right to do so after giving birth to them. Fair Game!

Missing You

We've been having internet problems since last Friday evening. It goes on and off sporadically. Someone should be coming today to fix it (and of course it's working perfectly right now, lol!). I don't usually blog in the middle of the day (too much house stuff to do) , but I gotta grab the internet while I can. I'm desperate! It has actually startled me to realize how connected I am to all of you--even you, Ronalyn, and I have never met you. I have so missed reading blogs, commenting on them, and posting. I have really felt disconnected to you all (yeah, I'm a "recovered hick" but I can't erase that expression from my vocabulary--however, I don't say, "y'all." I do draw the line there. Sorry if I'm offending anyone--as in my sister and brother-in-law, but I don't consider you guys hicks.) . So I hope the person who comes to repair the internet issue can perform a miracle so I don't have to miss you anymore :)

A Rare Moment Captured on Film

No, it's not a rare moment that my kids brush their teeth (well, it would be if left up to them!). I walked into the bathroom tonight to see both my kids in the bathroom brushing their teeth ... and this is the rare moment--they actually got along! I had to run and get my camera to document this rare moment of parental bliss. And now I'm sharing it with you. Now isn't your day more complete?!

Time Will Tell

It's always so "wow" to me when I'm going about my business as usual, and "out of the blue" God answers a prayer. I think He's answering my prayer. Time will tell. I've been praying for quite a while about what to do about employment. I want to find a job that I can do only during the day when the kids are at school--I still need to be available to take them to school and pick them up because sometimes my husband needs to go to work early. I have thought about various jobs (subbing, tutoring, doing something with technology 'cause I'm good with computers, finding a business I could do at home that doesn't require much training, etc.) , but child care is usually an issue and for the life of me I can't figure out what I could do from home. I'm soooo not business-oriented. It is so important to me to be there for my kids on a regular basis. I enjoy taking them to school. I enjoy being the one who gets to pick them up from school (exc...
