A Little of This; A Little of That

Right now I'm ...

  • enjoying listening to Carlos and the neighbor play on their slip 'n slide--the giggles, the squeals, the exchange of ideas :)
  • contemplating sweeping and mopping the house (which I should be doing right now, but I won't have internet access tonight and I'm shriveling up without the internet and blogging, so I'm going to start blogging during the 8 hours we have internet access. I'll save the "internet saga" for another post)
  • missing my baby doll (the twelve-year-old baby doll). Can't wait to call her tomorrow :)
  • excited about putting up a small shelving system in Carlos' closet so we can organize his toys (finally!)
  • thinking it felt soooo good to splurge on a spa manicure/pedicure with Ashley last Sunday that I want to splurge again on a manicure tomorrow. I probably won't break down and do it, though :)
  • feeling blessed because I just asked Carlos for a hug and he actually obliged me--a rare treat indeed

And on that positive note, I'll log off and get busy because the floor is calling my name (*huge grunt*) :(

By the way, the OssoBucco was sooooo yum! I had forgotten exactly how "yum" it was. I loosely based it on this recipe (click on OssoBucco) and another recipe I had for Osso Bucco. I didn't have any of the fancy ingredients from Emeril's recipe, so I just skipped them, lol! Hubby liked it a lot, too, and he's hard to please, so that felt really good :) And, Teena, I was going to make steamed rice as well as the risotto, but by the time I got to that point, I was "done" in the kitchen, if you know what I mean. So I had decided he would have to suffer with risotto; however, he actually liked how well it goes with the Osso Bucco, so I lucked out *whew!*

Missing You

We've been having internet problems since last Friday evening. It goes on and off sporadically. Someone should be coming today to fix it (and of course it's working perfectly right now, lol!). I don't usually blog in the middle of the day (too much house stuff to do) , but I gotta grab the internet while I can. I'm desperate! It has actually startled me to realize how connected I am to all of you--even you, Ronalyn, and I have never met you. I have so missed reading blogs, commenting on them, and posting. I have really felt disconnected to you all (yeah, I'm a "recovered hick" but I can't erase that expression from my vocabulary--however, I don't say, "y'all." I do draw the line there. Sorry if I'm offending anyone--as in my sister and brother-in-law, but I don't consider you guys hicks.) . So I hope the person who comes to repair the internet issue can perform a miracle so I don't have to miss you anymore :)

Feb Year In Review Layouts

Just a quick post tonight. It dawned on me a few days ago that I'm already behind in my "Year . In . Review" layouts, so I put February's together. Believe it or not, for such a simple concept, these layouts took about three hours combined. I couldn't believe it! Anyway, these photos depict the highlights of February. Maybe tomorrow I'll do March :) (I wonder how many hours that will take?!) Just in case you're wondering, Carlos is still sick--no fever, just a sore throat now. Hopefully he'll go back to school on Tuesday ('cause I need some "me" time before I turn into a monster, lol!). 'Cause as you all know, life is all about me, right ;) Happy Monday, y'all!

Nehemiah: Sheep Gate (Symbolism)

hubpages.com http://www.prayfordetroit.com/ As I mentioned in my Nehemiah  post, God has nudged me this summer to study Nehemiah in depth because He has some things He wants to show me.  I am just starting Chapter 5, and I must say it is so exciting and interesting. I have to admit, though, that when I got to Chapter 3, it just looked like one of those boring chapters: it gave all the boring details about each section of the wall of Jerusalem that was being rebuilt, and gave countless names of the people who rebuilt each section.  I was going to skip it and move on to Chapter 4 when I felt the Lord nudge me to look deeper--that there was something here that He wanted to show me.   So I dutifully sought the Lord (and a research book, and the internet!) , and was ASTOUNDED at the incredible layers of symbolism in the names of the gates!  It has turned out to be my favorite chapter so far.  :)  God is incredibly amazing, huh?   The big pi...
