Broken Dream :(

So, I spend about an hour trying to find a VCR/TV combo that I can figure out in my sister-in-law's house. Why? Because I'm forcing myself to exercise. So I battled the hundred excuses NOT to exercise, and persevered through three TVs to find one that I could somehow manage to work. My reward for my faithfulness to myself? A nice, relaxing half hour in her "bathtub-style" jacuzzi situated in her gigantic, gorgeous, "spa-like" master bathroom. Sounded good to me. So I exercised, with the vision of myself in the hot tub in the forefront of my mind the entire time I'm sweating and contorting myself in all kinds of different positions.

Then ... at last ... my treat to myself. I go upstairs, get the water going, put some bubbles in, and wait for the water to get past the jets (that's what she told me the last time). So, I turn on the jets, and water literally starts spraying everywhere. I quickly turn them off, decide that maybe the water didn't completely clear the jets, and try again in a few minutes. Again, water is spraying ferociously all over the huge bathroom. I turn the jets off again, and repeat the cycle again with the same results.

My dream is beginning to wane. I then feel something in the tub. I pick it up--it's a jet. Apparently the jacuzzi is broken. Hmmm ... water ... electricity ... broken jet--time to let the dream go and enjoy a regular bath before I electrocute (sp?) myself. And then clean up the huge mess all over her bathroom. *sob*

Had I known that my dream was going to disappear down the drain would I have exercised anyway? Probably not.

That's like my mom's jacuzzi tub. The sprayers are so strong, that's it's actually painful. The control knob to turn the jets down never worked, and I don't think my parents have ever used it. I'm totally with you though on the exercise videos. Everyday I think I'm going to do one, but by the time the kids go to bed I'm exhausted.

Hey something like that happened to me at the last marriage retreat. It was at the Ayres hotel. I was so excited about a jacuzzi tub that Lenny ran across the street and bought me some bubble bath to use. I get all set, wait for the water to clear the jets and then turn them on. The next thing I know, there is water all over me, all over the bathroom, and all over the fresh towels.

So I wait again. The water does clear the jets and put the bubble bath in. The bubble bath soap stuff was so thick that I squeezed the bottle and the top blew off forcing most of the soap to go into the tub. The next thing I know, I am in the tub with bubbles reaching halfway up the wall. It ws like I was a human cappuccino. I was very fun but it was a pain to clean up.

Oh, and I slipped getting out because I couldn't see the side of the tub and hit my head on the toilet.

By the way, the women's retreat is at the same hotel. Bring bubble bath.

Nehemiah: Sheep Gate (Symbolism)

hubpages.com http://www.prayfordetroit.com/ As I mentioned in my Nehemiah  post, God has nudged me this summer to study Nehemiah in depth because He has some things He wants to show me.  I am just starting Chapter 5, and I must say it is so exciting and interesting. I have to admit, though, that when I got to Chapter 3, it just looked like one of those boring chapters: it gave all the boring details about each section of the wall of Jerusalem that was being rebuilt, and gave countless names of the people who rebuilt each section.  I was going to skip it and move on to Chapter 4 when I felt the Lord nudge me to look deeper--that there was something here that He wanted to show me.   So I dutifully sought the Lord (and a research book, and the internet!) , and was ASTOUNDED at the incredible layers of symbolism in the names of the gates!  It has turned out to be my favorite chapter so far.  :)  God is incredibly amazing, huh?   The big pi...

Random "me" stuff

Update about the jail visit :  We were not able to go this weekend because communicating with an inmate is a little bit complicated, so we were not able to set up a time.  I am praying that it works out this week.  My friend will get back to me.  Also, I found out that I cannot bring him anything.  If I want him to have a One-Year Bible, I have to order it online and have it sent directly to him at the jail.  I will be in prayer about that as well. Today, I'm keeping it very light.  I have had A LOT of time to myself this summer, so I wanted to show you how I've been spending my time: a LOT of getting my classroom ready! My favorite part is the back wall (ready for student work!), so I thought I'd show you that today. the back of my classroom! We will have a "Fruit of the Spirit" Tree in which the kids will each have a paper apple with their name on it.  When they see a classmate demonstrating one of the fruits of the Spirit, they w...
