Showers of Blessing

That's what I feel that this job has been for me. I am constantly amazed at the many ways that God uses this job to bless me and fill me with His presence and help me to maintain His perspective about things. Today was no different. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays they always start out with a devotional for 1/2 hour before school starts.

WOW. what a way to start the day--in a room of teachers (and a principal) who share your belief and depth of faith, listening to praise music & the Word, sharing prayer requests. Just a quiet reminder of Almighty God before the hustle and bustle of the day. It's so much more powerful in a group than just at home by myself.

So that's how my day started. And the devotion seems to get to me every day. Then we had a staff meeting--and I must admit that I have a very jaded perspective about staff meetings. So I really wasn't looking forward to it, but I was looking forward to spending a little time with the teachers.

I have to say I was completely blown away ... on so many levels. We opened the meeting with more praise and worship (I'm in one of those seasons where you can't get enough of praise music), and I just reveled in the fact that I get to sit in my workplace and praise our Lord and Savior with other believers. Then we opened in prayer. Then the principal gave us about a twenty-minute word of encouragement about our positions and how to teach without being overwhelmed. I am truly amazed by his leadership style and his level of compassion and understanding of what we face on a regular basis. I am very much enjoying working for him. After all that edification, he got down to business.

But the coolest part was watching the camraderie among the teachers. They are the best group of teachers I've ever seen. They truly work together so well--it's obvious they genuinely like each other. They were constantly teasing each other (and the principal). I tell you, that was by far the most uplifting meeting I've ever been to. I'm almost going to be sad when my sub position is over. Here it is, hours later, and I'm still almost on a high. Really, who could think you could be so blessed just by going to work?? God is good.

Tomorrow I get to be blessed by going to chapel and seeing over 100 kids praising God and responding to the Word of God they will hear.

Lucky me :)

That is so awesome!! What a blessing! Just came from a work meeting myself. We have meetings once a month. We find out what is new/changing and we pray for our clients. It's very good. I am blessed to work for MedTech and for Gavin and Cassandra.

Missing You

We've been having internet problems since last Friday evening. It goes on and off sporadically. Someone should be coming today to fix it (and of course it's working perfectly right now, lol!). I don't usually blog in the middle of the day (too much house stuff to do) , but I gotta grab the internet while I can. I'm desperate! It has actually startled me to realize how connected I am to all of you--even you, Ronalyn, and I have never met you. I have so missed reading blogs, commenting on them, and posting. I have really felt disconnected to you all (yeah, I'm a "recovered hick" but I can't erase that expression from my vocabulary--however, I don't say, "y'all." I do draw the line there. Sorry if I'm offending anyone--as in my sister and brother-in-law, but I don't consider you guys hicks.) . So I hope the person who comes to repair the internet issue can perform a miracle so I don't have to miss you anymore :)

Feb Year In Review Layouts

Just a quick post tonight. It dawned on me a few days ago that I'm already behind in my "Year . In . Review" layouts, so I put February's together. Believe it or not, for such a simple concept, these layouts took about three hours combined. I couldn't believe it! Anyway, these photos depict the highlights of February. Maybe tomorrow I'll do March :) (I wonder how many hours that will take?!) Just in case you're wondering, Carlos is still sick--no fever, just a sore throat now. Hopefully he'll go back to school on Tuesday ('cause I need some "me" time before I turn into a monster, lol!). 'Cause as you all know, life is all about me, right ;) Happy Monday, y'all!

Nehemiah: Sheep Gate (Symbolism)

hubpages.com http://www.prayfordetroit.com/ As I mentioned in my Nehemiah  post, God has nudged me this summer to study Nehemiah in depth because He has some things He wants to show me.  I am just starting Chapter 5, and I must say it is so exciting and interesting. I have to admit, though, that when I got to Chapter 3, it just looked like one of those boring chapters: it gave all the boring details about each section of the wall of Jerusalem that was being rebuilt, and gave countless names of the people who rebuilt each section.  I was going to skip it and move on to Chapter 4 when I felt the Lord nudge me to look deeper--that there was something here that He wanted to show me.   So I dutifully sought the Lord (and a research book, and the internet!) , and was ASTOUNDED at the incredible layers of symbolism in the names of the gates!  It has turned out to be my favorite chapter so far.  :)  God is incredibly amazing, huh?   The big pi...
