Handling Life

Hmmm ... it hasn't really been THAT long, has it?

Obviously, I'm not sticking to my New Year's resolutions.

So, i think i posted that I'm a computer lab teacher now ... just Mondays and Fridays. Getting used to being a working mom again has been difficult, and as if that wasn't hard enough, I'm now a long-term sub on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in a first grade classroom.

I will say I'm surprised at how much I'm enjoying being back in the classroom. I do LOVE teaching, and first grade is what I'm best at ... but I will be extremely happy when the teacher's maternity leave is over, and I get my life back :)

I spend so much of my life in "catch-up" mode. Always catching up on:
  • laundry
  • grocery shopping
  • cleaning
  • home projects
  • work stuff

Seems like life is a whirlwind of activity. Ashley has gymnastics for the month of March (I told her she'll have to take April off 'cause I'll be a basketcase by then ;)) Mondays and Wednesdays immediately after picking them up from school. Carlos has baseball practice on Tuesdays. Thursdays Ashley has church in the evening. Then throw in a baseball game during the week.

So, I guess the lesson I'm learning is ... what a shocker: I'm actually NOT a "supermom." that I have limitations, and that's okay.

  • that if we have pasta for dinner five nights in a row 'cause that's what we had on hand and it's quick and simple ... that's okay.
  • if the house isn't cleaned every week 'cause we haven't been home enough to do it ... that's okay (for now)
  • if we run out of supplies because i haven't had a chance to make it to the store ... that's okay.

I must say I'm surprised at how well I'm handling the fact that life is going to be chaotic for a while. Let's pray it continues :)

I've missed you reading about you Friend, but I can see now that you've been WAY too busy!! I hope things calm down soon, and until they do, I'll be praying that you continue to handle it well! :)

I know how you feel and have been there! Sometimes we end up eating out because I haven't had time to go to the grocery store! Sad, isn't it? Hang in there!

Hi Carmela!
I think you are doing a maah-velous job! And I agree...we are not super moms and that is more than OK! Make sure you take deep breaths and relax! This is what life is all about!

Love,
Teena

Nehemiah: Sheep Gate (Symbolism)

hubpages.com http://www.prayfordetroit.com/ As I mentioned in my Nehemiah  post, God has nudged me this summer to study Nehemiah in depth because He has some things He wants to show me.  I am just starting Chapter 5, and I must say it is so exciting and interesting. I have to admit, though, that when I got to Chapter 3, it just looked like one of those boring chapters: it gave all the boring details about each section of the wall of Jerusalem that was being rebuilt, and gave countless names of the people who rebuilt each section.  I was going to skip it and move on to Chapter 4 when I felt the Lord nudge me to look deeper--that there was something here that He wanted to show me.   So I dutifully sought the Lord (and a research book, and the internet!) , and was ASTOUNDED at the incredible layers of symbolism in the names of the gates!  It has turned out to be my favorite chapter so far.  :)  God is incredibly amazing, huh?   The big pi...

Random "me" stuff

Update about the jail visit :  We were not able to go this weekend because communicating with an inmate is a little bit complicated, so we were not able to set up a time.  I am praying that it works out this week.  My friend will get back to me.  Also, I found out that I cannot bring him anything.  If I want him to have a One-Year Bible, I have to order it online and have it sent directly to him at the jail.  I will be in prayer about that as well. Today, I'm keeping it very light.  I have had A LOT of time to myself this summer, so I wanted to show you how I've been spending my time: a LOT of getting my classroom ready! My favorite part is the back wall (ready for student work!), so I thought I'd show you that today. the back of my classroom! We will have a "Fruit of the Spirit" Tree in which the kids will each have a paper apple with their name on it.  When they see a classmate demonstrating one of the fruits of the Spirit, they w...
