In Christ Alone

I just needed a word from God, and He gave me a song this time. I absolutely LOVE this song, so I copied the two verses that speak the most to my heart, and on a separate page I journaled the significance of this song in my life. I got the picture from the internet (from Flickr).
This is what I journaled about this song:
These lyrics are a soothing balm to my soul
when I need God’s touch. They comfort me
like little else can when I’m struggling on
some level.

These words are truth, they are life, and
they bring an immediate peace to my spirit.
When everything else seems to be falling apart
around me, He is the solid ground upon which
I know I can stand firm. Nothing can destroy
me because He is stronger than anything I face.
And I know that with God on my side, all will
be well, whether I understand how or not.

I am so very grateful for His constant presence
in my life. I am so thankful that He brought me
to the place of total surrender several years ago.
and for using each difficult circumstance that I
have since faced to increase my faith. When the
going gets tough and I begin to reflect on the
many times and various ways He has seen me
through each one, I am able to trust Him
completely to see me through the trial I
currently face.
I chose this picture because this
is how I feel when I’m able to completely trust Him
in spite of my circumstances. It's like He's hugging
me and whispering, "It's going to be okay."
Ta Ta for now, y'all :) I have more to post but I don't have the time now.

Wow! I am so bugged that I never post anymore. Facebook is just so much easier. I'll just keep it simple-- random data: today I had Pho (Vietnamese soup) for the first time and LOVED it!! Seriously, you haven't lived till you've tried it :) I created two and a half sketches of future layouts, and halfway finished two more layouts. really on a paper-scrapping frenzy! This is one sketch: I joined the Facebook group "I grew up in Fairfield, IL, and thought I would die of boredom (but I didn't)" :D ... you have to have grown up in a dinky town to "get it" had a "day off from life" hanging out at my in-laws house all day ... ahhh! gotta love days like that I can't believe it's almost June already

Feb Year In Review Layouts

Just a quick post tonight. It dawned on me a few days ago that I'm already behind in my "Year . In . Review" layouts, so I put February's together. Believe it or not, for such a simple concept, these layouts took about three hours combined. I couldn't believe it! Anyway, these photos depict the highlights of February. Maybe tomorrow I'll do March :) (I wonder how many hours that will take?!) Just in case you're wondering, Carlos is still sick--no fever, just a sore throat now. Hopefully he'll go back to school on Tuesday ('cause I need some "me" time before I turn into a monster, lol!). 'Cause as you all know, life is all about me, right ;) Happy Monday, y'all!

A Pleasant Surprise

So, I was just going about my business today--you know, life as usual, chores, kids, homework, dinner, etc., and I get a call from my husband around 8:00 p.m. that he's bringing a friend over to the house for dinner. I have met this friend a few times (Hi, Bobby!!), but we haven't seen each other for years (they live in San Francisco). After the initial excitement wore off (about three seconds later), I realized there's NO RICE in the house. That's a huge problem, considering he's Filipino and eats rice every day. So I made a quick Yoshinoya run, and pulled up in the driveway just before them. We had a great visit. The time just flew. We had a lot to catch up on. He is one of several high school and college friends that my husband still keeps in touch with. It is always mind-boggling to me that they all grew up together in the Philippines, yet several of them have made their way to California. Pretty cool, huh? This is the friend who graced us with his pre...
