Thankful

In honor of Thanksgiving (and inspired by Teena's blog, lol!), I just wanted to post what I'm thankful for this Thanksgiving:
  • my salvation
  • the power of God in my day-to-day life
  • that I am privileged to live in a prosperous country where I get to worship God openly and I have basic rights that every human being should have
  • all the military men and women--and their families--who work hard and sacrifice more than I can ever really understand to ensure that we continue to have those freedoms--Hi Ronalyn and Samantha!
  • the amazing family that I am blessed to have, including extended family
  • that I don't have to worry about a bomb killing my husband and/or children when they go to work and school, respectively
  • the age difference between my kids--I really enjoy having two kids in different phases of childhood at the same time. When I have a need for conversation, I have Ashley; when I need unconditional love and affection and innocence, I have Carlos.
  • that I still get to be the center of Carlos' universe for a few more precious years before he discovers that there's a whole big world out there that's more fun than I am!
  • that my children have a special bond with their cousins who live close by. I so enjoy seeing them together. They know each other so well--they have a blast together and they argue with each other.
  • for women friends who love me just the way I am
  • for all the improvements that we've been able to make around the house.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING if I don't post again before Thursday :) Hope you all have a wonderful, relaxing time!

Guess what? I am truly thankful for you and your family. You are such a sweet part of the Gisbert's life - especially now as you take part in Sarah's education. We love you and thank God for you.

Things that make me smile and sometimes laugh: my family Starbucks with friends reading blogs :) parking the car in the driveway of our "new" house, lol! Oh, I guess I've forgotten to take a picture to show, huh? bantering with Ashley (the good kind of bantering--not the kind that gives me gray hairs!) My Missionettes girls (I think we've already been over the fact that even though they all have parents, they're still "my" girls!) breakfast with friends (Hi, Teena!) my new XTi :) Photoshop Elements (one of my best friends 'cause it makes me look like I take good pictures, lol!) scrapbooking (digital and regular) Crock Pot dinners (If I wasn't a Christian I would worship the person(s) who invented it) women friends in general the words Carlos mispronounces (washmouth instead of mouthwash, it's "between the rules" instead of "against the rules," and "overfloat" instead of overflow) I, of course encourag...

Feb Year In Review Layouts

Just a quick post tonight. It dawned on me a few days ago that I'm already behind in my "Year . In . Review" layouts, so I put February's together. Believe it or not, for such a simple concept, these layouts took about three hours combined. I couldn't believe it! Anyway, these photos depict the highlights of February. Maybe tomorrow I'll do March :) (I wonder how many hours that will take?!) Just in case you're wondering, Carlos is still sick--no fever, just a sore throat now. Hopefully he'll go back to school on Tuesday ('cause I need some "me" time before I turn into a monster, lol!). 'Cause as you all know, life is all about me, right ;) Happy Monday, y'all!
Wow! I am so bugged that I never post anymore. Facebook is just so much easier. I'll just keep it simple-- random data: today I had Pho (Vietnamese soup) for the first time and LOVED it!! Seriously, you haven't lived till you've tried it :) I created two and a half sketches of future layouts, and halfway finished two more layouts. really on a paper-scrapping frenzy! This is one sketch: I joined the Facebook group "I grew up in Fairfield, IL, and thought I would die of boredom (but I didn't)" :D ... you have to have grown up in a dinky town to "get it" had a "day off from life" hanging out at my in-laws house all day ... ahhh! gotta love days like that I can't believe it's almost June already
