Yeah! Progress!

I got very lucky today. Hubby had a birthday party to attend (of a co-worker), Carlos took a nap, and Ashley put herself down for a nap. So I had a good two and a half hours of non-stop, uninterrupted quilting time. Yeah me! I also worked on it for a couple of hours before they took their nap (nice having older kids who can entertain themselves/each other!).

Here's where the quilt stands now. I still have to put two borders around this piece before I can prepare to quilt it. It doesn't look nearly as Hawaiian as I wanted it to, but I'll just chock that up to lack of experience and make the curtains very Hawaiian, lol!

Here's a close-up. The fabric that looks blue is actually a mint green. That's just a stray thread that I need to cut.

I did make up for "neglecting" the kids for a couple of hours by taking them to McDonald's for dinner and making them ice cream sandwiches with homemade chocolate chip cookies for dessert. It was fun trying out my brand new Pampered Chef Ice Cream Sandwich Maker! I'm normally sooo not a gadget person (there's literally no room to store anything in my tiny kitchen, lol!), but I know the kids and I will use it a lot (especially during the summer).

PPPplllleeeeasee show me how to quilt. I would LOVE to make one. Seriously, I would love it. Yours is adorable. I love pink and I want your new quilt.

Good job Carmela on the new project. How wonderful for Ashley to have something like this.

Great quilt Carmela, something that Ashley can treasure for a long time!! I would love to be able to do that, but I don't think I have the patience!

Missing You

We've been having internet problems since last Friday evening. It goes on and off sporadically. Someone should be coming today to fix it (and of course it's working perfectly right now, lol!). I don't usually blog in the middle of the day (too much house stuff to do) , but I gotta grab the internet while I can. I'm desperate! It has actually startled me to realize how connected I am to all of you--even you, Ronalyn, and I have never met you. I have so missed reading blogs, commenting on them, and posting. I have really felt disconnected to you all (yeah, I'm a "recovered hick" but I can't erase that expression from my vocabulary--however, I don't say, "y'all." I do draw the line there. Sorry if I'm offending anyone--as in my sister and brother-in-law, but I don't consider you guys hicks.) . So I hope the person who comes to repair the internet issue can perform a miracle so I don't have to miss you anymore :)

A Rare Moment Captured on Film

No, it's not a rare moment that my kids brush their teeth (well, it would be if left up to them!). I walked into the bathroom tonight to see both my kids in the bathroom brushing their teeth ... and this is the rare moment--they actually got along! I had to run and get my camera to document this rare moment of parental bliss. And now I'm sharing it with you. Now isn't your day more complete?!

Time Will Tell

It's always so "wow" to me when I'm going about my business as usual, and "out of the blue" God answers a prayer. I think He's answering my prayer. Time will tell. I've been praying for quite a while about what to do about employment. I want to find a job that I can do only during the day when the kids are at school--I still need to be available to take them to school and pick them up because sometimes my husband needs to go to work early. I have thought about various jobs (subbing, tutoring, doing something with technology 'cause I'm good with computers, finding a business I could do at home that doesn't require much training, etc.) , but child care is usually an issue and for the life of me I can't figure out what I could do from home. I'm soooo not business-oriented. It is so important to me to be there for my kids on a regular basis. I enjoy taking them to school. I enjoy being the one who gets to pick them up from school (exc...
