I think I mentioned a few weeks ago (Did I??) that we are working on kindness in our family. So a couple of days ago, Carlos asked me if we could make a "giant cookie." I remembered seeing pizza-sized cookies, so I told him we would make one. We were going to make it yesterday and the Lord prompted me to make one for each of the neighbors on each side of us.

Well, this is a real stretch for me because I am not the "friendliest" of people. I wave to my neighbors when I see them, but I don't extend myself to make small talk, etc. So I had to reach back in the recesses of my mind to when Sheri spoke to us in Sunday School about being friendly and showing kindness in our neighborhoods.

Making the giant cookie was a little stressful (cause I'd never done it before), packaging it was more stressful (I don't know how to make stuff look cute and presentable), but delivering it was Mega stressful. I was SO nervous ... and about what?? I mean, I'm just delivering a cookie--it would be highly unlikely that they would refuse it or throw rotten tomatoes at us. I don't know why I was so scared, but I was. As Joyce Meyers says, "Do it scared." So I did. Who knows what they thought. I've never done this before (maybe they're thinking I poisoned the cookie and they threw it in the trash, lol!). I still feel weird about it, actually ... but, it's done.
That's all for today, folks!

By the way, the "dots" you see all over my countertop are not dirt or crumbs. I have a totally ugly, retro countertop (the kind that has "glitter" specks in it). Someday that will go ... *sigh*, but for now, I have to live with it.

What an inspiring thing to do! Carmela, that has blessed my day! And I like that saying, "Do it scared!"
I completely understand about the nervous thing!

How sweet are you! I can relate.. I'm like a hermit.. I hide from them. But I do talk to them on occasion. (Always with the hopes that one of the children will need me right in the middle.) How bad is that. I avoid BIG people.. :) I know.. and I work with them as far as photography goes.. but that's why I married the guy who is personable! :) I"m so proud of you..

And thanks for your email.. I hope you got my long essay back!

PPPllllleeeeasseeeee make me one of those cookies!!!!!! If you do, I will make 10 of them and pass them out.

Ok, I am serious about the please-make-me-one thing, but even if you don't, I will still make 10 and give them away.

What an incredible act. I can not wait to do it.

Nehemiah: Sheep Gate (Symbolism)

hubpages.com http://www.prayfordetroit.com/ As I mentioned in my Nehemiah  post, God has nudged me this summer to study Nehemiah in depth because He has some things He wants to show me.  I am just starting Chapter 5, and I must say it is so exciting and interesting. I have to admit, though, that when I got to Chapter 3, it just looked like one of those boring chapters: it gave all the boring details about each section of the wall of Jerusalem that was being rebuilt, and gave countless names of the people who rebuilt each section.  I was going to skip it and move on to Chapter 4 when I felt the Lord nudge me to look deeper--that there was something here that He wanted to show me.   So I dutifully sought the Lord (and a research book, and the internet!) , and was ASTOUNDED at the incredible layers of symbolism in the names of the gates!  It has turned out to be my favorite chapter so far.  :)  God is incredibly amazing, huh?   The big pi...

Random "me" stuff

Update about the jail visit :  We were not able to go this weekend because communicating with an inmate is a little bit complicated, so we were not able to set up a time.  I am praying that it works out this week.  My friend will get back to me.  Also, I found out that I cannot bring him anything.  If I want him to have a One-Year Bible, I have to order it online and have it sent directly to him at the jail.  I will be in prayer about that as well. Today, I'm keeping it very light.  I have had A LOT of time to myself this summer, so I wanted to show you how I've been spending my time: a LOT of getting my classroom ready! My favorite part is the back wall (ready for student work!), so I thought I'd show you that today. the back of my classroom! We will have a "Fruit of the Spirit" Tree in which the kids will each have a paper apple with their name on it.  When they see a classmate demonstrating one of the fruits of the Spirit, they w...
