Dinner Last Night

Ashley and I cook dinner together most of the time during the summer--I know, how fun, huh?!. However, one night per week she is in charge of planning the menu, making a grocery list, and cooking the meal. If she prepares it all by herself (which she usually does), then she is "released" from kitchen duty after dinner. Because she (as I do) despises cleaning up the kitchen after dinner, she works very hard at preparing the meal herself :)

This is one of her favorite creations (and Carlos gets very excited when he sees this dinner on his plate, lol!). She got it from a kids' cookbook. Just thought I'd share. Doesn't it look appetizing??!! (for a kid, I mean!). I always ask for my hot dog and goldfish crackers "on the side." Just thought I'd share. I wish I'd taken a picture of the expression on Carlos' face when he saw his plate!
Happy Fourth of July!

I have that cookbook. I made the one with the blue macaroni and cheese to look like sea water. Then we put goldfish in there. Voila the ocean.

I didn't know you could do that to hot dogs! How cute! LOL!

Unfortunately for me, Garrett would just eat it and swallow it without even noticing what it was! He'd go, "Hot dogs?...Suhweet!"...and then it would be chomp, chomp, chomp, gulp!!!

Wow! I am so bugged that I never post anymore. Facebook is just so much easier. I'll just keep it simple-- random data: today I had Pho (Vietnamese soup) for the first time and LOVED it!! Seriously, you haven't lived till you've tried it :) I created two and a half sketches of future layouts, and halfway finished two more layouts. really on a paper-scrapping frenzy! This is one sketch: I joined the Facebook group "I grew up in Fairfield, IL, and thought I would die of boredom (but I didn't)" :D ... you have to have grown up in a dinky town to "get it" had a "day off from life" hanging out at my in-laws house all day ... ahhh! gotta love days like that I can't believe it's almost June already

Feb Year In Review Layouts

Just a quick post tonight. It dawned on me a few days ago that I'm already behind in my "Year . In . Review" layouts, so I put February's together. Believe it or not, for such a simple concept, these layouts took about three hours combined. I couldn't believe it! Anyway, these photos depict the highlights of February. Maybe tomorrow I'll do March :) (I wonder how many hours that will take?!) Just in case you're wondering, Carlos is still sick--no fever, just a sore throat now. Hopefully he'll go back to school on Tuesday ('cause I need some "me" time before I turn into a monster, lol!). 'Cause as you all know, life is all about me, right ;) Happy Monday, y'all!

A Pleasant Surprise

So, I was just going about my business today--you know, life as usual, chores, kids, homework, dinner, etc., and I get a call from my husband around 8:00 p.m. that he's bringing a friend over to the house for dinner. I have met this friend a few times (Hi, Bobby!!), but we haven't seen each other for years (they live in San Francisco). After the initial excitement wore off (about three seconds later), I realized there's NO RICE in the house. That's a huge problem, considering he's Filipino and eats rice every day. So I made a quick Yoshinoya run, and pulled up in the driveway just before them. We had a great visit. The time just flew. We had a lot to catch up on. He is one of several high school and college friends that my husband still keeps in touch with. It is always mind-boggling to me that they all grew up together in the Philippines, yet several of them have made their way to California. Pretty cool, huh? This is the friend who graced us with his pre...
