I Know It Sounds Crazy, But ...

... I'm already preparing for Spring. I have been busy planning our landscaping this year--it won't be anything fantastic, believe me! :)--but anything will be an improvement on the current condition of our front and back yards.

And, because I'm a self-proclaimed cheapskate, what better way to save money than to plant seeds instead of buying small plants (plus, you generally get a much better selection). So I have my "landscaping vision" (at least for the backyard) for this year, and it includes a "cutting garden" (a bunch of flowers that you can cut and make bouquets with) and a vegetable garden. Now, mind you, I'm BY FAR so not a green thumb, but we'll see. As far as flowers, if all goes well, we'll have:

Right now, the plants are sitting on a table (in our house, of course!) near our windows, soaking up the sun. Those are the zinnias that have sprouted. If you look closely, you can see that the seedlings are "reaching" toward the sun. That always amazes me.

We'll also have a vegetable garden that will include corn, tomatoes (YUM!), cucumber (Ashley's choice), pumpkin (Carlos' choice :)), and a ton of herbs--basil, parsley, cilantro, thyme, and rosemary.

There's a lot more going on, but I have a lot to do right now. I'll post pictures of our new curtains when I get a chance. Ta ta for now :)

How do you do an herb garden. I want to start one but don't know how. In all honesty though, I haven't even bothered to look into it. I would love to have basil and lavender.

Missing You

We've been having internet problems since last Friday evening. It goes on and off sporadically. Someone should be coming today to fix it (and of course it's working perfectly right now, lol!). I don't usually blog in the middle of the day (too much house stuff to do) , but I gotta grab the internet while I can. I'm desperate! It has actually startled me to realize how connected I am to all of you--even you, Ronalyn, and I have never met you. I have so missed reading blogs, commenting on them, and posting. I have really felt disconnected to you all (yeah, I'm a "recovered hick" but I can't erase that expression from my vocabulary--however, I don't say, "y'all." I do draw the line there. Sorry if I'm offending anyone--as in my sister and brother-in-law, but I don't consider you guys hicks.) . So I hope the person who comes to repair the internet issue can perform a miracle so I don't have to miss you anymore :)

A Rare Moment Captured on Film

No, it's not a rare moment that my kids brush their teeth (well, it would be if left up to them!). I walked into the bathroom tonight to see both my kids in the bathroom brushing their teeth ... and this is the rare moment--they actually got along! I had to run and get my camera to document this rare moment of parental bliss. And now I'm sharing it with you. Now isn't your day more complete?!

Time Will Tell

It's always so "wow" to me when I'm going about my business as usual, and "out of the blue" God answers a prayer. I think He's answering my prayer. Time will tell. I've been praying for quite a while about what to do about employment. I want to find a job that I can do only during the day when the kids are at school--I still need to be available to take them to school and pick them up because sometimes my husband needs to go to work early. I have thought about various jobs (subbing, tutoring, doing something with technology 'cause I'm good with computers, finding a business I could do at home that doesn't require much training, etc.) , but child care is usually an issue and for the life of me I can't figure out what I could do from home. I'm soooo not business-oriented. It is so important to me to be there for my kids on a regular basis. I enjoy taking them to school. I enjoy being the one who gets to pick them up from school (exc...
