Family Fun Day

We went to my nephew's birthday party today. It was your typical Filipino gathering: LOTS of delicious food, smiles and laughter, and people everywhere, lol! The kids had a lot of fun--there were so many of your typical birthday party games. It struck me today that kids play these same games at hundreds of parties during their childhood and they never get tired of them. I love that. For some odd reason, it was a comforting thought.

My very nice husband is the "grill maester," and being the kind brother he is, he stood outside in this sweltering heat for a few hours to barbecue all the YUMMY meat for his sister (and us!). What a nice guy, huh?
This is some of the food. Hope you don't drool too much, Teena :) First we have ...
pancit, a traditional Filipino noodle dish. I LOVE the way my sisters-in-law make it.
This is the YUMMY meat. LOVE this stuff!
And then we had some ceviche (not Filipino obviously!) and Chinese Chicken Salad.
And another thing I love about Filipinos. This whole BIG birthday bash was whipped up in literally two days. Filipinos are amazing that way. I could absolutely never pull that off.

These are my favorite pics of the day:

Ashley and her cousin (they're only seven weeks apart in age) playing musical chairs ...
and Ashley enjoying a "whistle" candy on the drive home.

How fun! Pancit and lumpia are my favorite foods! I can so relate to the 2-day notice for parties! Maybe that's why I'm not a good planner!

Things that make me smile and sometimes laugh: my family Starbucks with friends reading blogs :) parking the car in the driveway of our "new" house, lol! Oh, I guess I've forgotten to take a picture to show, huh? bantering with Ashley (the good kind of bantering--not the kind that gives me gray hairs!) Feb Year In Review Layouts

Just a quick post tonight. It dawned on me a few days ago that I'm already behind in my "Year . In . Review" layouts, so I put February's together. Believe it or not, for such a simple concept, these layouts took about three hours combined. I couldn't believe it! Anyway, these photos depict the highlights of February. Maybe tomorrow I'll do March :) (I wonder how many hours that will take?!) Just in case you're wondering, Carlos is still sick--no fever, just a sore throat now. Hopefully he'll go back to school on Tuesday ('cause I need some "me" time before I turn into a monster, lol!). 'Cause as you all know, life is all about me, right ;) Happy Monday, y'all!
Wow! I am so bugged that I never post anymore. Facebook is just so much easier. I'll just keep it simple-- random data: today I had Pho (Vietnamese soup) for the first time and LOVED it!! Seriously, you haven't lived till you've tried it :) I created two and a half sketches of future layouts, and halfway finished two more layouts. really on a paper-scrapping frenzy! This is one sketch: I joined the Facebook group "I grew up in Fairfield, IL, and thought I would die of boredom (but I didn't)" :D ... you have to have grown up in a dinky town to "get it" had a "day off from life" hanging out at my in-laws house all day ... ahhh! gotta love days like that I can't believe it's almost June already
