Ambivalent

First Day of School: Exciting (new experiences, fresh start, more "me" time) and sad (I missed my kids today) at the same time.
These are pics of them. Ashley's last year of middle school.
Carlos is starting first grade.
Funny story about the Skechers. We went to Ross to go through the torture of "winter clothes" shopping for Ashley, and Carlos saw these Skechers.
"I need Skechers, mommy."
"What?" (I actually thought I heard wrong--how could my six-year-old know about Skechers?).
"These shoes, mommy. They're Skechers. I need them for school."
"How do you know about Skechers?"
"From T.V. I need them because my feet won't be smelly in them." (Where he got that idea I'll never know!)
They were on sale so I bought him his first Skechers. I have to scrap this story so he'll have a good laugh when he's older.
Many more new beginnings as well ...
New year for my Mom's group I belong to. We met on Tuesday evening at the Coffee Bean to iron out the details for the coming semester. I'm SOOO excited. I LOVE my mom's group. I get so much support, encouragement, and inspiration from them.
New year for Missionettes (My Wednesday night class at church.). This will be my third year with most of my girls. I feel like I finally know what I'm doing, and I'm so excited. I know the girls really well by now (they are a great group of girls), and I feel truly privileged that God has been using me to grow them deeper in Him. They all have such a heart for God and the things of the Lord; it's a pleasure to spend time with them and get to know them. I love watching them interact together, too. It's so cute! :)
And I'm going to be involved with the P.T.A. this year. I get to work with two retired teachers that I worked with when I was a teacher. I'm enjoying spending time with them again. But I might have to exercise my "No" muscle. Sometimes I have a hard time saying 'no' when people ask for help, and then my family pays the price because I get stressed out.
Sorry about how everything is scrunched up at the end. I had spaced the paragraphs nicely, but blogger is being "bad" and I have no idea how to fix it.

Oh yes.. back to school.. It was sad to see them go.. even if the little one only went for a few hours.. but the quiet was kinda nice. :)

Funny story on the skechers.. and yes they do get a lot from tv, huh? I had my little one telling me I need those bags that stores clothing that sucks all the air out... LOL.. and she even said.. it's only 19.99 mommy!

Take it easy.. I'm so glad to hear you are getting involved in all those activities.

Great pictures!! Carlos looks so cute with his hair all fixed and gelled (is that a word?). Did I tell you I am the PTA secretary this year?

Is that a "peace" sign from Ashley? Is that cool? :) Carlos now has cool shoes too! You don't him to have sweaty feet now do you? They would get stinky too!

Sounds like you are going to be busy this year! Hopefully not too busy for lunch!

Missing You

We've been having internet problems since last Friday evening. It goes on and off sporadically. Someone should be coming today to fix it (and of course it's working perfectly right now, lol!). I don't usually blog in the middle of the day (too much house stuff to do) , but I gotta grab the internet while I can. I'm desperate! It has actually startled me to realize how connected I am to all of you--even you, Ronalyn, and I have never met you. I have so missed reading blogs, commenting on them, and posting. I have really felt disconnected to you all (yeah, I'm a "recovered hick" but I can't erase that expression from my vocabulary--however, I don't say, "y'all." I do draw the line there. Sorry if I'm offending anyone--as in my sister and brother-in-law, but I don't consider you guys hicks.) . So I hope the person who comes to repair the internet issue can perform a miracle so I don't have to miss you anymore :)

A Rare Moment Captured on Film

No, it's not a rare moment that my kids brush their teeth (well, it would be if left up to them!). I walked into the bathroom tonight to see both my kids in the bathroom brushing their teeth ... and this is the rare moment--they actually got along! I had to run and get my camera to document this rare moment of parental bliss. And now I'm sharing it with you. Now isn't your day more complete?!

Just another day ...

Today was a full day. The workers put in our patio door ... sooooooooo excited to have this door!!! The pictures look much less than impressive b/c I didn't take time to play around with them in Photoshop (CSI: Miami is on so I'm glued to the T.V, plus I have a huge load of laundry to fold still). I'm so thrilled to have this door that, good pic or not, I have to share. Like I said, we've never done anything like this before, so every little thing excites me beyond belief :-D They worked on it all day, having to break out a rather large section of the wall, take out a window and door, and move our electrical outlet and porch light. And as you can tell, they have to finish tomorrow. This is the view from the inside: This is the view from the outside: It was strange to have them in my house. But apparently, in deference to my "feminine ears," they decided to refrain from using their Spanish cuss words. That was nice :) Plus our washer is on the blink (has bee...
