My Good King

Your life may not look like a fairy tale, and it may certainly not FEEL like a fairy tale, but I am going to attempt to prove to you today that your Christian walk parallels a fairy-tale life.  😊  Initially, this may sound almost blasphemous to you, but I am so certain that I received this directly from God.  I pray that it encourages you to believe that God is working in your situation whether you see evidence of it or not.  He is such a good God, and such a big God.  😊 First, I would like to start with the main points that a speaker made at a Girls Ministries camp that I attended a few weeks ago, which were the springboard for what God revealed to me. • It took a lot of courage for Cinderella to respond to the prince’s invitation to the ball because of how her family made her feel. • It also took a lot of courage for Mary to obey and follow God’s plan for her life. • If we agree to follow Jesus and accept His invitation, and keep our eyes on Him, H...

Just some words that spoke to me when I was reading my Bible.  So I decided to do a journaling page and really let those words sink into my soul.  It is so hard to hope sometimes when so  many hopes have been dashed over the years; HOWEVER, we know that because our God is so loving, we ALWAYS have hope, whether we feel hopeful or not. Here's another one I did to remind me that our God is a God of justice.

 I recently received a Journaling Bible from a very kind friend who shares my love for creativity, so I thought I'd share a couple of my pages. 

In June I had the beautiful and long-awaited privilege of participating in a camp for foster kids .  It was a marvelous, life-changing experience that blessed me and challenged me tremendously.  Each counselor has the privilege of being “Jesus with skin on” for only two campers (children); this enables us to give the children our undivided attention, something they often lack in their daily life.  My role as a counselor was to put myself on the back burner and give all of myself to these two precious girls for four full days.  At about the halfway point, I began to silently complain because I was tired of giving and giving—I just wanted a LITTLE BIT OF TIME to make it all about me.  Then it dawned on me how great God truly is—He is big enough and generous enough to derive pleasure from giving Himself fully to each human being on this planet every single day. As I pondered this astonishing reality, I began to have a new appreciation for His greatness. ...

These are my thoughts on Genesis 1.  If you were sitting in front of me in the classroom and we were reading together, this is what I would tell you.  :) So sit back, relax, grab a cup of water ... or Gatorade ... or a juice box ... or your Starbucks, and get ready to be fed spiritually! As you read, try to visualize (get a picture in your head) of what God created each day.  Imagine what it must have looked like to God--first there was nothing but darkness and water, then, slowly, each day, God could look at the new things He added to creation.  That must have been such a great feeling! Try to see it NOT JUST as a cool Bible story, but really try to understand that the AMAZING God we serve is really SO powerful that He could just use His words to make everything appear.  So, truly, NOTHING is impossible with God. I read Psalm 40 recently, and it was a soothing balm to my needy soul.  It came at just the right time and brought healing and comfort to me.  I began to claim this Psalm for this season of my life, and I read it at least once per day.  The first verses of the Psalm describe a time when David had to endure a very difficult trial and waited patiently for God to deliver him from it.  Upon David’s deliverance, God gave him “a new song to sing.”  To me that means that when God delivered him from his trial, David experienced a season of great joy.  The last verses of Psalm 40 make it evident that David is going through another trying season, and he is leaning on God and trusting God to rescue him from the trial again.  I am inspired by the fact that David is waiting for deliverance with the full expectation that God will do it.  He knows God well enough to be able to trust Him for complete deliverance. I have decided to take a break from blogging.  I really felt called to do it last summer, but had a really difficult time posting during the school year.  I continued blogging this summer, but no one is reading my blog, so I am going to take a break and seek the Lord.  Maybe I'm not supposed to continue blogging.  I will continue to post what God puts on my heart if ... and ONLY if ... He speaks to me again and reassures me that He wants me to.  I am sad, and I may post something from time to time, but I will not be posting regularly. God bless you!

I have been praying off and on for a nationwide revival in our country, but have not made any effort to pray consistently.  I am truly sorry for that, because I believe that if all of the committed Christians banded together and began praying fervently for revival, God would definitely answer our prayers. Last summer, God put on my heart to write a Bible study on the book of Nehemiah.  Today, I decided to share just one day's lesson from that Bible study.  I'm still working on it, and I'm only on chapter five, but I will give you a lesson from Nehemiah chapter two. For maximum benefit, please read Nehemiah 2 BEFORE reading my post. DESTINY --that sounds like a serious, intimidating word, doesn’t it?  I don’t know about you, but my mind conjures up grand-scale adventures and awesome, larger-than-life historical figures, such as Alexander the Great, Napoleon, George Washington, Moses, etc.  However, I’m talking about “little ol’ you” and  “little ol’ me.”  Today we are going to ponder the fact that God created you with a specific destiny in mind.  Granted, most likely our destiny will not be forever immortalized in history books, but in God’s eyes our destiny is no less important than anyone else’s.  It’s true.  I hope to drive that point ...

Just a song today.  I find myself listening to it at least once per day.  So beautiful, and it keeps me focused on God and His greatness.

I am continually fascinated at the myriad of ways that God teaches and corrects me.  This year He has given me more than the average dose of correction.  My pastor gave an excellent message that touched me and spoke to me in many ways, but there was one sentence that struck me deeply.  Part of his message focused on the Samaritan woman at the well (John 4:1-30).  My pastor said that he believed the Samaritan woman “got a bum rap.”   My mind froze at that statement.  I was shocked.  What did he mean, “bum rap?”  How did she get a bum rap?  She deserved her reputation as a promiscuous, immoral, and, shameful woman.  I determined that after church I would seek the Lord and ask Him to give me HIS perspective.   Was my pastor right or was she truly a woman of ill repute who deserved all the judgment and condemnation she has received over the millennia?  During my lunchtime, I prayed for God to reveal His perspective as I r...
