Finally ... Paper Scrapping ... et al.

Sorry. Just the usual stuff, only I'm not handling it so well. Hopefully things will get better as the summer progresses (although summers have a funny way of being anything BUT relaxing, lol!

So, what have I been doing the past month?

Not a lot. Just your usual:
  • stuff for the P.T.A.

  • lots of gardening (I'm a newbie at gardening, so it's time consuming)

  • PAPER scrapping, for a change :)

  • hosted Bunco (Hi, Samantha! Saw myself on your blog :))
  • Trying to come up with some sort of a routine for the summer so we don't get bored (that's code for "so the kids don't drive me crazy!")

  • Prepping for the end-of-the-year ceremony for the Sunday night class I teach at my church.

  • "catch up" cleaning in the kitchen and bedroom

  • cleaned up the back patio

  • Ashley's graduation from 8th grade (more on that later ... boo hoo! :))

So, nothing earth-shattering, but I'm overwhelmed just the same. I was on serious burnout yesterday, so I promised myself a three-hour block of time to scrapbook today--uninterrupted (as much as possible with kids in the house, lol!). Now I feel normal again.

I am almost exclusively a digital scrapper now, and I've found it SOOO hard to get back into paper scrapping. I feel like I'm all thumbs, and my creativity is so GONE! Nevertheless, here are a few pages I whipped up (three today--which is A LOT for me, lol!):

These photos were all taken the same day. I LOVE watching all the kids play together. Every time we get together they have so much fun. One of my in-laws has a built-in pool, and they spend hours having a blast. I have wanted to capture these memories, and I finally did at the beginning of this month.

Journaling reads: "I have wanted to take candids of you guys in the Lim's pool for a while now. Every time we get together and go swimming, this is exactly what it's like ... you play like this for hours. I love to watch you ... laughing, squealing, and inventing new ways to play in the water.

Reminds me of the countless hours I spent playing in the pool--WAY back in the day, lol! I'm so glad I took these photos. I wanted a way to remember these faces forever. And now I have."

Journaling reads: "It was fun to watch you girls make attempt after attempt to create a pyramid in the water. Despite the fact that it was so difficult, you persevered and finally succeeded. GOOD FOR YOU! ... and me, 'cause I got to "capture the moment," lol!"

"Cool" Lunch

I usually make Ashley take her lunch three days out of the week (she "gets" to buy on the other two days, even though she doesn't actually eat the food--part of the whole "fit in with the crowd" issue) . I was having a SERIOUSLY hard time getting her to bring her lunch, and it occurred to me one day that if she took "fancier" sandwiches, she might not fight it so much. So ... I started making Chicken Salad and getting various toppings (she likes the jars of roasted peppers, pepperoncinis, alfalfa sprouts, tomato, etc.) as well as buying bolillos or other fancier sandwich breads. That went over well. It went over so well that her friends would ask for a taste, and rave about how yummy the sandwich was. They were actually jealous of Ashley's lunch (yeah! now she won't be the "geek" who brings her lunch; she'll be the girl who brings cool lunches--mission accomplished and then some!) . One of her friends I know rather well, because...

Just another day ...

Today was a full day. The workers put in our patio door ... sooooooooo excited to have this door!!! The pictures look much less than impressive b/c I didn't take time to play around with them in Photoshop (CSI: Miami is on so I'm glued to the T.V, plus I have a huge load of laundry to fold still). I'm so thrilled to have this door that, good pic or not, I have to share. Like I said, we've never done anything like this before, so every little thing excites me beyond belief :-D They worked on it all day, having to break out a rather large section of the wall, take out a window and door, and move our electrical outlet and porch light. And as you can tell, they have to finish tomorrow. This is the view from the inside: This is the view from the outside: It was strange to have them in my house. But apparently, in deference to my "feminine ears," they decided to refrain from using their Spanish cuss words. That was nice :) Plus our washer is on the blink (has bee...
