Just a quick post to give you all an idea of what life was like this weekend in the Lustre household.
- Hubby was at a work conference this weekend --oh well :( (he returned this evening)
- The kids and I went to Balboa Saturday --I was so excited to take pictures there--so picturesque, only to find that I forgot the CF card at home (ring any bells, Teena?!). But we had a lot of fun anyway. Gimme a beach and I'm a happy girl.
- Sunday I planned to take it easy, and I did--then my cousin called in late afternoon and asked me to babysit--I could not refuse; it was for an important reason. So we did, and the kids had a great time together, as usual, lol!
- Today was another quiet day, except for one exciting thing (actually it's no big deal, but it is to me!): I taught myself to applique and machine quilt. I am SO excited!! I was on a high all day. It is something I've been wanting to do for quite a while, but I was a little bit confused. So Friday I asked a friend (thanks, Samantha!) about specific details and she was exactly what I needed. So I got my nerve up and threw together an applique flower (based on a pattern), and stitched it. Then I quilted the background. It was so fun!! Then Carlos and Ashley had to have a turn, and they had fun "playing" on the sewing machine, too! :)--And, Samantha, anytime you have an urge to "play machine quilting," PLEASE let me know and you can come over (it'll give me an excuse to hold Noah!!), okay?!
Here's a picture of my pride and joy for today (besides my kids, of course!) I know it doesn't look too impressive, but it's good enough for my first attempt:
