Facebook

It was truly only a matter of time until Facebook crept into my blog life, lol! I truly tried to hold off as long as I could, but it is so energizing to connect with people in the middle of the day during my breaks at work.

For the longest time I didn't "get it." (What's the point? Who cares? What is the purpose of Facebook anyway?)

Then my niece went to Australia and I really wanted to connect with her and see what her life is like there 'til she comes back in July, so I "re-joined" facebook, and I have to say I'm loving it. My favorite part is that you get quick little "snippets" or "sneak peeks" into the lives of people that you know (or knew) but don't connect with on a regular basis anymore.

What have i learned on facebook?
  • my brother still works his schedule so that he takes off every other friday, and last friday he went out to lunch with his wife--just made me smile :)
  • i'm not the only parent with a crazy, hectic life
  • one of the ladies at my church is currently student teaching in first grade--so we're kindred spirits and we didn't know it ;)
  • my brother made chocolate chip cookies tonight (for his daughter, of course ;))
  • my sister's c-section got postponed for a week (yeah, she was disappointed)
  • saw photos of my sister and her friends from high school--i really tripped on those :)
  • saw navy photos of my brother--that was fun: a sneak peek into his navy life
  • that i must try Mr. Clean with Febreze so my house will smell like lavendar and vanilla when i mop

so what do I think of facebook now? I am LOVING it!

okay ... now I'm ready to grade papers and finish report cards.

I definitely have a love/hate relationship with facebook. for the most part it has been a very positive, fun experience. I have loved reconnecting with old friends. The negative is when you read things that people write that are just disappointing - for various reasons. I have had to de-friend a few people, but for the most part I think it's been a blast.

Missing You

We've been having internet problems since last Friday evening. It goes on and off sporadically. Someone should be coming today to fix it (and of course it's working perfectly right now, lol!). I don't usually blog in the middle of the day (too much house stuff to do) , but I gotta grab the internet while I can. I'm desperate! It has actually startled me to realize how connected I am to all of you--even you, Ronalyn, and I have never met you. I have so missed reading blogs, commenting on them, and posting. I have really felt disconnected to you all (yeah, I'm a "recovered hick" but I can't erase that expression from my vocabulary--however, I don't say, "y'all." I do draw the line there. Sorry if I'm offending anyone--as in my sister and brother-in-law, but I don't consider you guys hicks.) . So I hope the person who comes to repair the internet issue can perform a miracle so I don't have to miss you anymore :)

A Rare Moment Captured on Film

No, it's not a rare moment that my kids brush their teeth (well, it would be if left up to them!). I walked into the bathroom tonight to see both my kids in the bathroom brushing their teeth ... and this is the rare moment--they actually got along! I had to run and get my camera to document this rare moment of parental bliss. And now I'm sharing it with you. Now isn't your day more complete?!

Time Will Tell

It's always so "wow" to me when I'm going about my business as usual, and "out of the blue" God answers a prayer. I think He's answering my prayer. Time will tell. I've been praying for quite a while about what to do about employment. I want to find a job that I can do only during the day when the kids are at school--I still need to be available to take them to school and pick them up because sometimes my husband needs to go to work early. I have thought about various jobs (subbing, tutoring, doing something with technology 'cause I'm good with computers, finding a business I could do at home that doesn't require much training, etc.) , but child care is usually an issue and for the life of me I can't figure out what I could do from home. I'm soooo not business-oriented. It is so important to me to be there for my kids on a regular basis. I enjoy taking them to school. I enjoy being the one who gets to pick them up from school (exc...
