In Christ Alone

I just needed a word from God, and He gave me a song this time. I absolutely LOVE this song, so I copied the two verses that speak the most to my heart, and on a separate page I journaled the significance of this song in my life. I got the picture from the internet (from Flickr).
This is what I journaled about this song:
These lyrics are a soothing balm to my soul
when I need God’s touch. They comfort me
like little else can when I’m struggling on
some level.

These words are truth, they are life, and
they bring an immediate peace to my spirit.
When everything else seems to be falling apart
around me, He is the solid ground upon which
I know I can stand firm. Nothing can destroy
me because He is stronger than anything I face.
And I know that with God on my side, all will
be well, whether I understand how or not.

I am so very grateful for His constant presence
in my life. I am so thankful that He brought me
to the place of total surrender several years ago.
and for using each difficult circumstance that I
have since faced to increase my faith. When the
going gets tough and I begin to reflect on the
many times and various ways He has seen me
through each one, I am able to trust Him
completely to see me through the trial I
currently face.
I chose this picture because this
is how I feel when I’m able to completely trust Him
in spite of my circumstances. It's like He's hugging
me and whispering, "It's going to be okay."
Ta Ta for now, y'all :) I have more to post but I don't have the time now.

Missing You

We've been having internet problems since last Friday evening. It goes on and off sporadically. Someone should be coming today to fix it (and of course it's working perfectly right now, lol!). I don't usually blog in the middle of the day (too much house stuff to do) , but I gotta grab the internet while I can. I'm desperate! It has actually startled me to realize how connected I am to all of you--even you, Ronalyn, and I have never met you. I have so missed reading blogs, commenting on them, and posting. I have really felt disconnected to you all (yeah, I'm a "recovered hick" but I can't erase that expression from my vocabulary--however, I don't say, "y'all." I do draw the line there. Sorry if I'm offending anyone--as in my sister and brother-in-law, but I don't consider you guys hicks.) . So I hope the person who comes to repair the internet issue can perform a miracle so I don't have to miss you anymore :)

Just another day ...

Today was a full day. The workers put in our patio door ... sooooooooo excited to have this door!!! The pictures look much less than impressive b/c I didn't take time to play around with them in Photoshop (CSI: Miami is on so I'm glued to the T.V, plus I have a huge load of laundry to fold still). I'm so thrilled to have this door that, good pic or not, I have to share. Like I said, we've never done anything like this before, so every little thing excites me beyond belief :-D They worked on it all day, having to break out a rather large section of the wall, take out a window and door, and move our electrical outlet and porch light. And as you can tell, they have to finish tomorrow. This is the view from the inside: This is the view from the outside: It was strange to have them in my house. But apparently, in deference to my "feminine ears," they decided to refrain from using their Spanish cuss words. That was nice :) Plus our washer is on the blink (has bee...

Genesis 1: Commentary for my students :) {Hi! I miss you already!}

These are my thoughts on Genesis 1.  If you were sitting in front of me in the classroom and we were reading together, this is what I would tell you.  :) So sit back, relax, grab a cup of water ... or Gatorade ... or a juice box ... or your Starbucks, and get ready to be fed spiritually! As you read, try to visualize (get a picture in your head) of what God created each day.  Imagine what it must have looked like to God--first there was nothing but darkness and water, then, slowly, each day, God could look at the new things He added to creation.  That must have been such a great feeling! Try to see it NOT JUST as a cool Bible story, but really try to understand that the AMAZING God we serve is really SO powerful that He could just use His words to make everything appear.  So, truly, NOTHING is impossible with God. Think about what you might be going through in YOUR life--some situation that seems almost impossible or truly impossible.  God CAN fix i...
