8 Random Facts

I was tagged by Teena :).

1. I have to post these rules before I give you the facts.
2. Each player starts with eight random and interesting facts/habits about themselves.
3. People who are tagged need to write a post on their own blog (about their eight things) and post these rules. (If you don’t have a blog, email me)
4. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
5. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

So here are my eight random facts.

  • I would rather be hot than cold any day of the year (ask me even in the hottest days of summer if I’m longing for winter and I’ll give you a definitive “no”).
  • When I buy gas, I can’t stop pumping until the price ends with a “5” or a “0” ($43.85, $43.10, etc.). Goes back to the “old” days when I used to balance my checkbook. It just made it easier. Now it’s become an obsessive-compulsive trait.
  • I’m enjoying my life now more than ever before. Looking at Ashley’s adolescence, I’m VERY glad I never have to relive mine, lol! Not that it’s bad, it's just that the constant ups and downs would wear me out.
  • I totally wish I was a neat-freak.
  • Even though Carlos is doing excellent in reading, the teacher in me won’t be content in allowing him to read at his current level. I turn his 15 minutes of reading homework into a mini “guided reading” session.
  • My favorite networks (when we had cable by mistake*) were HGTV and CourtTV. I was sooo addicted. I could watch HGTV all day and CourtTV most nights (except when the CSI’s are on).
  • If I could go back to school again, I would be a Graphics Arts major.
  • I’m very proud that my husband is a handyman. I love looking at the kids’ floors and remembering when he installed them. He is now installing our windows (btw, we’re saving between $1,500 and $2,000 because he’s doing it!). He had no clue how to do either of these projects, but he went to a home improvement store, educated himself, and just did it.

Gosh, that went quickly! :) I could go on and on about myself, but I’ll stop here, LOL! My eight random facts are done!

*For those of you who were wondering how we could possibly get cable by mistake, here’s the story. We subscribed to “Local Channels” a couple of years ago because our Cable Internet would actually be cheaper. We then noticed that we were getting a lot of channels (all of the ones that come with basic cable). It lasted a month, so I thought my husband had called to change us over to regular cable and just forgot to tell me. I was concerned, however, because I couldn’t find a way to block channels—not good for the kids. So I called one morning to ask how we block channels, and the guy tells me that we’re not supposed to have any of those channels (just local channels). Oops. Then he tells me that sometimes their computer makes mistakes but it will eventually correct itself. The next morning I had a very private “memorial service” because all access to the basic cable channels was gone forever (boo hoo!). JUST KIDDING! So that’s how we got cable by mistake.

Now, I'm going to be a rebel, and I'm not actually going to "tag" anyone. BUT, if you want to have fun (and it is fun!), consider yourself tagged!

I love your facts! It's great way to get to know someone, although nothing beats going to lunch or breakfast and just enjoying chatting together,eh?

Anyways , on your graphic artist dream, I have a proposition for you, I will call you later on it!

Nehemiah: Sheep Gate (Symbolism)

hubpages.com http://www.prayfordetroit.com/ As I mentioned in my Nehemiah  post, God has nudged me this summer to study Nehemiah in depth because He has some things He wants to show me.  I am just starting Chapter 5, and I must say it is so exciting and interesting. I have to admit, though, that when I got to Chapter 3, it just looked like one of those boring chapters: it gave all the boring details about each section of the wall of Jerusalem that was being rebuilt, and gave countless names of the people who rebuilt each section.  I was going to skip it and move on to Chapter 4 when I felt the Lord nudge me to look deeper--that there was something here that He wanted to show me.   So I dutifully sought the Lord (and a research book, and the internet!) , and was ASTOUNDED at the incredible layers of symbolism in the names of the gates!  It has turned out to be my favorite chapter so far.  :)  God is incredibly amazing, huh?   The big pi...

Random "me" stuff

Update about the jail visit :  We were not able to go this weekend because communicating with an inmate is a little bit complicated, so we were not able to set up a time.  I am praying that it works out this week.  My friend will get back to me.  Also, I found out that I cannot bring him anything.  If I want him to have a One-Year Bible, I have to order it online and have it sent directly to him at the jail.  I will be in prayer about that as well. Today, I'm keeping it very light.  I have had A LOT of time to myself this summer, so I wanted to show you how I've been spending my time: a LOT of getting my classroom ready! My favorite part is the back wall (ready for student work!), so I thought I'd show you that today. the back of my classroom! We will have a "Fruit of the Spirit" Tree in which the kids will each have a paper apple with their name on it.  When they see a classmate demonstrating one of the fruits of the Spirit, they w...
